la la luna

proud dad with baby burqa. if anyone could SEE our baby, they would wantonly covet him, so we prudently covered all that skin (he does get an awful lot of grannies stopping him in the supermarket to pinch his fat red cheeks). this seemed the best option for paranoid mum in the sun, and he was quite happy (so he said).
LUNA PARK! australian icon! we have arrived!

best auntie in all of oz

arriving in melbourne we stayed with my beautiful sis and simon in northcote. she had made a little baby corner, with a blanket (he still toppled over a bit when sitting) and beautiful chewy animals to suck.
old harry and big edie gave welcomed him with licks and sniffs, and we went to the local pool to escape the crazy heat.
sis has just moved from alice springs, and on the way to melbourne she caught the train all the way from beijing to totnes. if only totnes was a bit closer to northcote. sigh.

lake & jungle

A friend looking at these pictures pointed out that Janu is front and centre in each one: you would be forgiven for thinking we didn't actually go anywhere - just found different backdrops to put bub in front of!

But I promise you, here we all are walking 12km around singapore's largest lake (yes?). It is a drinking water resovoir, so even though I was very tempted to leap in, we didn't. The pictures of men with machine guns shooting intruders in the head also helped my restraint.

reflexology for tots

the best things about being in singapore: food food food food

having a massage - - -aha hahahahahh
food food food
and of course uncle barry!

when we all had a massage, janu was passed round from shop to shop with everyone wanting to hold him. at one point I realised Adrian, Barry and I were all sitting quietly with our shoulders being pummelled and there was no baby! But he was safely somewhere down the mall being tickled. (oops!) We decided on a traditional massage, instead of putting our feet into a giant fishtank and having little fish eat all the dead skin from our feet. here is janu having some reflexology.

sing-a-pore

what a whirlwind! firstly, SORRY to the grandparents who view this everyday in the vain hope that a small picture of their loved one will appear! I have been lax, lax, lax. And the oz g'parents saw him in person instead! Here are some beeeelated shots of our holiday. to slowly appear when the little fella deigns that it is time to sleep (note who is in control of his days!)

Here are some steamy singapore shots - he adjusted amazingly well from the ice winds of devon to the balmy nights of singapore. the best part was reuniting with tiny beautiful naked baby instead of being more familiar with his 100 layers of socks, stockings, trousers, hats etc. that I pull on against the rain and snow.
we stayed with adrian's brother Barry (the one that looks like adrian, only taller!) in his beautiful flat in central singapore. all we could see from the windows are jungle - birds - orchids - monkies swooping past.

we are truly living the quiet life: the big event of this weekend was Janu's ride on the swing (see him in action!). It was icy cold, but little man laughs out loud in the cold wind. this swing set is just near a creek, just outside the dartington primary school, all 5 min walk from our house.

sleep thief

savour the image, as it doesn't last long. janu struggles with sleep, I struggle with sleep, Adrian struggles with sleep. what I would give for a stretch of 3 hours without being woken up. I am worried about what will happen on our trip to aust., but a friend pointed out that things can't really get any worse - that makes me feel much better (truly).
