AA b'day

AA had a birthday soon after we arrived. My sis had arranged a fantastic house-sit for us just down the road from her.  So Janu and I were able to bake cakes for AA and had a party with family and beautiful friend Gai, who popped in just as the candles were being lit!

indi&lucie

catching up with old friend indira and lucie. indi works with indigenous communities on water issues (among other amazing activist things) and lucie, as we all know, is a rock star. We're at Ceres, an amazing city farm in the middle of melbourne.  it has animals, allotments, nursery, markets, demonstration eco-house, kids playground, cafe, bike workshops, indigenous gardens and much more. I could happily live there.

parks ahoy

there are a bazillion playgrounds in melbourne.. (does anyone else try and distract their child from noticing a playground as they go past? just sometimes?)

happy with janu playing in the bright white light of an australian spring.

cuz!

wonderful baby niamh (pronounced neeve) and glorious sis at last! from an entirely unbiased position, N is just the best baby there is.  she is an extra pixie-like, happy, excited, contented little beast.  I'm so glad to get to know her at last.  my very own niece.

for 100s more pics of baby niamh, my sis also (surprise surprise!) has a blog: www.babyelekkenny.blogspot.com

australia!

arrived in Melbourne town! hurrah, hooray, frabulous day, chortling with my joy! luckily Dad was in town after a trip away, and could meet us the day after we arrived. I was all worried that Janu wouldn't remember who anyone was, but he was happy to see everyone and wasn't even shy - 'Nag, can we play football'. Nag is short for Nagyapa, grandpa in Hungarian. Dad thinks the abbreviation is funny, as it just means 'big'.

singapore zoo was SO wonderful.  we spent 6 hours there (ok maybe that was overdoing it, but we were waiting to catch our plane!) it even had a waterpark, hurrah.

please do not climb the railing. ok. but the lions look friendly.
