Janu's dance!

Hamamas (or ‘happy!’) is the biggest, most exciting part of the PNG calendar. This year it marks the 37th year since independence from Australia.   It was so good to feel a part a part of the week long celebrations.  Janu’s class had been learning a song and dance for aaaaages, and they performed in front of the school.  Dancers and warriors from all over PNG came to the football field just down the road and at all times of day and night we could hear dancing, singing, celebration.

how proud was I? did I cry? wow.
he still uses his lap lap (sarong) all the time for dress ups, and insisted we take it on holiday with us!

pre-school

More school adventures. they have been studying a different country each week - I can't remember where the oranges fit in? maybe O O O for orange?

gremlins

We’ve only managed to have one swim here – it is always closed or the pool is an interesting shade of greeny-brown.  But this day was lovely! janu did not try and be served at the bar (being a gremlin!)

friends

Some of janu’s friends.  I love seeing the two little girls each day at pre-school – they both walk in to drop off and collect their siblings and greet each other with big hugs and kisses.

love box

Sis sent a love box! Full of goodies that make our house feel more homey, and also for the little fellas! Fantastic gum boots that have been the best ever! the little shirts already fit, see?

that's MY bit

I love the look on his face.  When I am grumpy with him for eating lots of the mixture, I try and remember that I ALWAYS gobbled down MOST of the mixture. Why stop him?! Maybe it’s because he’s eating my share of the mixture?!
