boat-o

we had another glorious house-sit at the magical boathouse...

mish the xmas dog

a selection of mishka - the boathouse hound's - xmas adventures (no photo of the time he almost gobbled up pepper, a visiting kitten from london). We're not sure how he nabbed that bottle of wine during xmas lunch! Janu enjoyed mishka's tail swishing him in the face, and even now comes out with attempts to order an imaginary mishka around: 'mishka - sit!'.

binary & boots

good to see janu exploring the binary system on his new chalkboard, wearing his new fan-dangled sheepskin boots from his best australian granny! I also am the proud parent of a pair of wooly boots (a big hint from mum to stop stealing hers?) and adrian' pressie of a new pair of gumboots.

piper's foom

jax passed on piper's favourite dinosaur 'fooom' (spoon) to janu - it's seen plenty of action since then shovelling in porridge and pear, peas and pasta.

j reg

this amazing car motored it's way over here from melbourne. just thinking of all the care and love taken in making it; sewing his 'Janu' numberplate. Not long now till you can squeeze him, sis!

xmas!

on xmas morning we woke up at the beautiful boathouse - at the usual hour of 5am. maybe it's a santa fixation that makes him wake that early every morning? we missed santa, but found traces of him in a healthy pile of pressies under the tree. a bit of impromtu nativity action was inspired by the scarf and woolies handed down from gran's winter store. little did she know that the snow would soon set in...
then we slip slided along the icy drive to nuna and danga's (his inspired names for gran and grandad) for the chaos to continue.

crackers

you'll see what I mean by silly xmas games if you can get some friends to play this game. put a cracker on your head, and then move it down into your mouth without using your hands. twitch, wiggle, squint... a true highlight of xmas. below colin is having his elvis wig trimmed by julie [and this was the beautiful top made by sis and scarf from gran!!]

just the 10 of us

xmas was all full up with porters, ladhus and a token elek. for 10 days julie's family was down from london, and there were games, food, wine, presents, cooking, walks, games, food, sleeping, dog-walking, laughing and all the right xmas-y things.

festy fridge

what kind of amazing mates come round and clean your kitchen? Ellen found 3 snails in the fridge, and maud scooped up buckets of grime while polly hoovered and pip and I ran between 4 small bubs - whooping and giggling together. last week we helped pip paint her front room, and the week before polly's polytunnel was heaving with babes and babies digging over beds. my favourite day of the week!

ice ice baby

ice covered puddles around kingsbridge...

ker-plonk

on the coldest, but clearest day we've had for the longest time, we took ourselves for a picnic on the beach - and wondered where everybody was? Just because it was almost snowing??? Hope Cove.
