'bye bye'

oh dear. a sad morning. goodbye granny and nagayapa. we ran after the train for a little while, but couldn't catch up. I will add some more pics to your stay, mum and dad, from your pics mum - but for now I'll scoot on to more recent ones.

pastel night

sun slowly setting past 10pm after a steep walk in clovelly - a privately owned town (!).
I have just discoved mum's photos that she left here on disc, and will go back one day when the hours stretch out before me (that doesn't sound promising, does it, given that I am over a month behind on this blog..?) to add in her gems.

pebbly beach

a tired mum lying on the warm rocks. there is a gorgeous video that I'll add to this one day of J moooooing to the cows in the distance as we walked to this beach. (speaking of cows, today we were at the totnes agricultural show, and he just moooo'ed all day. and adrian's eyes shone as he walked among the cows.. I seem to have cow-boys all around me).
and another aside....the last words janu said as he drifted off to sleep tonight was shoo shoooes

MOT inspection

janu seems to gravitate toward anything with wheels. he regularly inspects the neighbours cars for rust, suspension, tyre pressure.

hartland II

we stayed in a perfect B&B on a working farm & walked and walked and walked. didn't even feel the water, even in mid-summer!

hartland pennisula I

we don't even have to leave devon to be swept away by scenes like this. . . the hartland pennisula, a north westerly tip of this huge county.

polly-tunnel

The SWOT team at Polly's tunnel - I think we potted on lupins, or nettle twatted (!) or weeded merrily. increasingly independent creatures means sometimes we can get more done, sometimes less. Next week at Pip's, where we'll launch into her new garden.

dirt boy

he is a real dirt-boy. we spent mornings at our allotment, afternoons at nick's foxhole garden (beans growing to the greenhouse roof!) and played in our garden - all local adventures. Strawberries seemed to last for months - and he got to pick out the good ones. Now that they're over, he still points to the beds and says 'da da da' (give me give me!). I have to take him down to the rasberries, or the currants, or the blackberries. a berry boy. sometimes he sits next to me as I dig, and breaks up the clods (and eats them). But mostly it's still impossible to to much that is productive with him around...some days I'm lucky, other days I can spend 5 snatched minutes tying up a renegade tomato.

landmatters

landmatters is a new(ish) permaculture intentional community up near washborne. we went on an open day and looked at all their great gardens, benders and off-grid technology. Elmo & Polly live just down the road and explored with us...

welcome back!

the reason this blog has been ignored is that its main looker-atter-ers came to see us! So no need to see pictures of us! This is some of what we got up to while they were here...

jungle

i can see a theme emerging - mr no pants in the jungles of dartington...this little fountain was here when we moved in, and it's a perfect no-drowing solution to a pond for this water-monkey.

my car car car

by far and away the best toy ever.

allotment bott
