KL & halfway home

a happy nuna, grandad, barry and lita reunion at barry's amazing house in KL. we were there a total of about 10 hours - silly planning on my part - but great to feel that sticky heat and barry's cool, amazing new home.
grandparents and us then trooped on home, just a quick 12 hr flight away! bigtrip finished!

vortex

this is to pay homage to the many, many, many, many hours Janu and I spent up in the air, and the airport-vortex-lands inbetween. I think the dazed look on his face captures it all. after the non-stop 30hr + flight we did alone to oz, I patted both of us on the back and said 'well done, team janu'.
- should I have bought him these shoes??

berry perfect

kate and sebastian - ahhhhh. wonderful, welcoming, warm, wise and witty. janu loved the washing basket, I loved talking and talking and walks to the park. wish I lived round the corner...x

clovelly

okay - now you see why it's SO hard to leave australia. I didn't even take any pics of us gallavanting in the sunny waves, or me floating happily on my back (albeit amid something that looked suspiciously like sewage) in the sea. and this is 2 min from beautiful jasmine's funky basement flat. Heaven. I can't really explain it any better than that.
nb- that pic of janu gazing down, I'm almost sure was when he was doing a poo. just so you know.

g'gran

another visit to (great) gran en route back to sydney. she had to push me out the door!

5 boys

as sarah and I grew up together (with our mums being best mates), it's lovely to see our boys at chez sophie's together! Joined by the Colombo posse, Griffin and Poson (and sophie and leah)! I was very tempted to send Adrian a message that he may have to come and forcibly remove me from the suburbs - !
[and in another baby-related post, sarah's sis hannah just had a baby too! with bro Toby due any minute!!]

bug-lady

just a brief interruption to give you an idea of what it's been like growing up with an entomologist mum: look what kind of pictures she sends me????

chooks

did i mention that s & j have the best garden in the world? i should have taken a pic of the monster wall mounted compost mixer!
I realise that it's not obvious from the pics that J and G are hunting chickens!

packing

we got used to living out of a big red suitcase...

maya

maya in there - now she's all empty out! (that's how janu would describe giving birth I think). soph and josh live just at the base of mt painter..

griffin's house

not sophie & josh's house - we went to griffin's house in canberra. this was the part of the trip that left me feeling all bittersweet - such a big glorious house in the suburbs, with a big garden, bush just across the road and lots of room. big sunny verandah and big blue sky (notice the common theme of bigness??) so i just wanted to tack on a little extension to soph and josh's house and move in. janu and griffin are 3 months apart and shared a mutual love of cars, sand and water. and now griffin has a baby sister!!!! maya must be a month old now?? with the lovliest mum in the world! : )

cathcart st

I have great memories of playing in the deep cool of granny's garage. and now janu enjoys the same. gran said she loved hearing him chat to himself, and when I stripped him off to bathe in a bucket, she could see his 'lyttle body' in all it's pot-bellied, short legg-ed glory. He still remembers about the 'big lizard - mummy put in box - in garden' [there was a big blue tounge in her bathroom, that I re-located to the garden]. She laughed hearing him say 'it's a bit sharpy there', when he didn't want to walk in bare feet on her hard gravel. It was so nice to bring him to great-granny's house.
Sometimes when he's reluctant to go to bed he grasps at straws: "I want to go great granny's house", he said once!

better-than-chocolate-good!

just me, sis, simon, mum, dad AND A TINY BABY INSIDE SIS'S BELLY!!! She didn't know she was preggers here, but now we do! So hugely, tremendously, wonderfully, fantastically great and better-than-chocolate-good!

snip

show's how tardy I am posting these, that adrian just took him for another haircut at the no-wait barbers. janu stands in line with all the other men, and sits in a big chair and 'snip snip snip'. i can't take him, cos i like his long hair. now he looks much the same as in this pic!

I do

cousin caroline got married in thedbo. so beautiful - sunny, warm, light-filled, relaxed, happy, tear-jerking morning. ahhhhh...
