central plateau

beautiful alpine country - we escaped a big heatwave too, being up by the windy lakes.  Boardwalk protects the gorgeous boggy flora - the bright green is a cushion plant (feels anything but).

heading north

heading north to catch the ferry to victoria, we decided to take our time. huge lakes, red rocks, sunrises.

sometimes I wish janu didn't wake up so early, but there are benefits...

leith family

we had a brilliant time woofing at a family out near cygnet.  wonderful kids who janu adored - play play play (except when they inconveniently went to school!).  great, productive gardens - every day the table was laden with fresh food pulled out of the ground. (linda woodrow style chook domes) the top pic is the tiny stone hut we stayed in.  old fishing nets strung from the trees were fantastic ladders up up up.

the water

the water might look nice, but it's cooooold! this is just down the hill from the house. as I recall this time, we lugged a while lot of stuff down, then it was was way too windy and cold to contemplate a dip.

mornings

after the sky  has stopped being pink, the animals come out. and stay out, romping in playdough, eating all of Janu's weetbix. this is the view from our little verandah.

beanbag

janu somtimes falls out of bed into this strategically placed beanbag.I have such good memories of this bean bag growing up - curled up in front of the heater reading books, or laughing so hard I almost pee'd myself watching faulty towers.

in the morn Janu rolls out on purpose (it's often the sudden squish! sound that wakes us up). If only he'd just sit there reading quietly. His next words are 'mum, i want you!'. it's not usually light, but i do get to see some stunning sunrises. not that i want to see them.

backwards

janu has an uncanny knack for putting his clothes on inside out and back-to-front, even if they started the right way. and odd socks. and even odd shoes.  I like it; Adrian struggles to let it go!

mona

we took a pic of this cool bench/bed for our timber bending friends.

an amazing art gallery here in hobart - more pics later. did i mention we've broken (or, actually they've just imploded) 2 cameras since we've been away... so we are sans camera again, but will make do with a phone. just stop looking if the quality is too bad!

tartine

sounds excessive, but this bread has changed my life. big life dream come true! calling all breadmaker - try this method! It's the 'Tartine' recipe and it turns out beautifully tasty, crusty, fresh after a week, light crumb and overall perfect sourdough. a couple of secrets - folding in a container instead of kneading on a bench, and 'steaming' inside a hot dutch oven inside the oven for 20min, then taking the lid off to crisp and puff the crust... these pics don't to it justice. I'll do more! i have loaves coming out of my ears. need more friends to give them to!

rainy yoga

a rainy day - me and Janu practicing our sharks, fish, oysters, binoculars and tunnels - aka long sanskrit words, but I like these ones better!

Yogabugs!

I got a job! Teaching yoga to kids - here I am after the interview, practicing with unsuspecting Janu on the Hobart wharf. You can see demos of 'yogabugs' on youtube.  First class soon! yipes! they'll tear me to pieces! I will be telling a story about a grumpy crocodile in the jungle - imagine jumping like a frog, roaring like a lion, leaning trees, wild winds, slithery snakes.... (I borrowed the cool shoes from my mum!)

Here are J and A trying out the eye bags I made when I got home, with smurf pics on them!
