lucie's tunes

lucie's cd arrived when we were having our 'mums the word' book club - see how much all the babes liked it!

sun(nier) garden

we lopped some branches from the evergreen magnolia & the towering euc - so the garden is sunnier. most days last week we were out playing - he is good at plucking grass, mixing up handfuls of soil (in one pot, out of another ad nauseum!) I spotted this tiny tike car thing at our friend keri's house - with a 6 & 10 yr old, they weren't squeezing into it anymore. It has a very happy home here!

pressies

lucky little fella - -

daffodils

through the forest on the way back we planted some daffodils, so that every year they can bloom and spread.

mongo&grandad

baby wreathes and baby kisses and baby birthday bliss

cake!!

this is gooooood. he had 2 handfuls at a time. couldn't get enough. I really thought about just trying to give him rice-cakes instead, but how could I?

berry pom

arriving at the castle, we had the best strawberry & cream sponge cake in the world -
games of football and frisbee ( I will always remember elmo sitting in the middle of the footy field clapping with glee ! )

off to the castle!

Aged 8months to almost 80, we traipsed through fields, splashed into puddles, explored a pond, forest, streams, and climbed up to the castle.

birthday morning

ONE TODAY!!! An auspicious 5am poo began this most delightful day. I woke up with the same kind of excitement usually reserved for christmas, or a wedding day or something eagerly anticipated. and somehow the whole day retained a rosy glow. The sun shone, and he opened his cards with a little help. the blue one pictured is the invite sent to his wee friends and family to join us for a walk through the woods...

thug

big of thug, really. this is delightful elmo, who sung with janu when they were both in the bellies of polly and I in the 'devonly voices' community choir. elmo still goes to choir, and crawls around the floor and hums tunefully!

elmo and his gorgeous family live on a property where they keep ducks, chickens, sheep, a horse, 100000s of bees, a dog, guinea pigs and a garden spilling over the edges with goodies. ponds full of toad and frog spawn, too. perfect. the boys crawled all over the beds that we dug (well, polly mostly) and got delightfully muddy.

spaaa-lash

another of our highly professional videos (I really should look for a job as a film maker!). all the noises is him sniffing and snorting with glee. this is where he learnt to stand - now he's up all the time almost!

mmmmmmm

after being under the weather for aaaages, he has finally found his appetite. there is nothing quite so satisfying as spooning masses of gunky porridge into his little bird-beak-open-mouth (squaking for me to hurry up). His arms wave wildly and he gulps like a fish out of water for the next spoonful. I now just give him a while banana, and he somehow discerns the peel from the fruit, and gobbles away. (jax, see evidence of the 'sniff' that returns when he thinks of you!)

not-tree planting

we went up to the moor to help a friend plant trees on her property - but when we got there - it had all been cancelled. we were quite pleased actually, as we just had the chance to explore the moors without digging holes and lugging trees around. we patted their goats and were on our way! it was very windy, and janu again thought the best thing to do would be to snuggle down and have a wee kip on his dad's back. I made him a gorgeous hat (in the first pic) and he liked it so much he took it off and threw it into the bushes, never to be seen again. sigh.

somewhere nice

the name escapes me - but here we are somewhere nice! it is near teignmouth. (mum & dad, we went rowing on a dinghy here once, and I was in a VERY bad mood - that should remind you!) luckily I wasn't in such a bad mood here, and we strolled and meandered and breathed brisk sea air.. lucky for us, amber LOVES pushing his stroller, and we love her pushing it !

rubby rubby eye eye

he is not the only one who rubs his eyes when he's tired... or stuffs themselves with goodies while putting away the shopping!

this is also a good follow up from the vox pop we did about what colour we should paint the kitchen floor - you can see Adrian's handiwork here. all sorts of colours.

zoooom

what a man! (both of them)! zooming around on our bike. I keep forgetting he is happy on a bike, and still walk most places. I think plodding is more my pace than zooming! but there are some great bike paths around, so as summer hots up, we'll get some bicycle-seat-for-three action ! There is a funny video that I'll add to this posting soon! (videos take ages to upload, so I do them when I'm busy doing something else at the same time so I don't have to wait around...)

dust

babies really do help us notice the extraordinary in the ordinary - he tries to catch the sun shine as it comes through the door in the mornings. it's lucky that there is so much dust in the house (!), or else he couldn't see the little illuminated particles!

snowdrops

from oz beaches to snowy tolchers. it's allowed to be as cold as can be, as long as there is white gorgeous snow. Our house, street, garden, everything was transformed into a sea of sparkling white. For awhile there, waking at the odd 4am wasn't so bad, when I could see blizzards of drift outside. Adrian had one blessed day off from work, and we frolicked and drunk hot chocolate...
