I think he looks a bit like catriona in this first photo. ahead of him in the fenced in area are our 3 chooks - photos soon of them!

little explosions

minni & tomato-gobbler shared lunch on the beach. luckily the greenhouse is bursting with tomatoes now to supply the little monster. the other day he ate 3 huge tomatoes up there, and I think his bottom told him that was 1 too many...

any for me...?

I bought an ice-cream at slapton beach, and silly me to think that we could share it...

blood nose

comfort food after his first blood nose... poor little man

he shows off his best asset at marldon's apple pie fair...

daddy's blocks

adrian's mum kept these blocks from when he was little, and they helped him learn how to toddle along.

a-growing

we have cancelled all veg boxes and are feasting on big carrots, tomatoes, beans, greens, cucumbers and more - I'll post a 'before / after' pic of the carrots soon...

tolchers big lunch!!

our street had a lovely street party for the national 'big lunch' day on 19 July. Despite the blustery weather, lots of us met families on the street we hadn't met before, and good fun..

peas galore!

we have had so many peas this year, both here at home and at the allotment. Yum. He gobbles them down. Now that the tomatoes are all ripening up in the greenhouse, he eats them whole too. Yesterday he kept saying 'more', 'more' so he ate about 10 little ones. It is one of the most satisfying things ever, to see him - a little person we grew from seed - eat a tomato that I grew from seed and nurtured till it was big and red and perfect. Two perfect things coming together.
The sunflowers in the picture are now about 8 foot high, and towering their smiles up through our second storey window!

I 'm sure he's telling us something really important here...?

piggy

his granny bought him this book from the tip shop when she was here, and it's a big favourite. broooommmm - lots of trucks, and tractors and all things nice.

little imelda

he loves them, he talks to them, sometimes sleeps with them, arranges them 'just so' and this morning demanded that I change them 3 times to get the right pair to match his outfit. he settled on adrian's old red wellies that his mum had saved up in her attic. he moo's into them to get an elephant sound effect, and so it looks like he has a red trumpet.

stopping to smell

the rose garden in Compton Castle, just down the road (still getting used to having castles just down the lane?!)

a-quilting

the swot team get quilting (okay maybe I lied and there was more than one sunny day here.. maybe 2!) kiddos drank the paddling pool, and we stitched and bitched. ellen has since given this quilt to her aunt, with many patches snuck from her and her families' old clothes to make it extra special...

late again

we are always too slow to fill up his bowl.... 'more', 'more' he says, as he has food in each hand and a mouth full. Writ large is our seemingly innate greediness - our constant hunger for more, more more.

once upon the sun

once it was sunny, and all was well.
(this summer I have heard people saying - "3 bad summers in a row - unbelievable!") I've only been here 3 summers so I don't believe that it ever really warms up... hurrruamph

jas-in-bristol (early july)

a wonderful reunion with jas, who was attending a criminology conference (delivering a paper no less!) in wales. we spent a great afternoon in bristol, strolling and yakyakyak-ing. too short a time though, and I was off again on a train south, and jas set off on another adventure - cycling round italy (si?) with reece. I am still very belatedly updating this blog, forgive me - jas was here in early july!

every morning

he takes them down, we put them back, he takes the down, we put them.......

He can say 'booo' for 'book' now, and his new word for today is 'baaa' for 'bra' (when he was emptying them all out of my drawers (and putting them on his head for a 'hat'). He knows where his nose is, and his head, and his belly - he shows his belly whenever no one is paying him any attention (which isn't very often>!) He knows what a 'pppoo' is, and points to them in his nappy. he doesn't quite tell me when he's done one, though, but maybe one day.

brrrooooooooom

I spend so much time out the front with him and his car. Now it's a good vantage point to also watch our chickens - 3 of them pecking away amid the bamboo forest in our front garden! 3 eggs a day from blondie, blackie and brownie!

he's up

this is his preferred mode of getting around - see what happens when I prise my hand away? I am actually appreciating it too, as I can see that sometime very soon he won't need me at all (sob, sob, sniff...!)

this was on a trip to dartmoor with the lovely mitra who was visiting from oz. we swapped old news about bodhi farm and dharmananda and it was so lovely to have someone from that part of the world stop in. more please!
