aurora

I don't know why I love this boat, but the aurora australis always makes me excited when I see her! the australian ice-breaker that does all the official antartic journeys. how can a boat be exciting? maybe I just like the colour. no other boat is so audacious.

we see her just occasionally sailing past our house (that is a sunrise from our balcony - we would probably rather sleep, as it's 5am ish, but janu seems to take a perverse pleasure in waking as early as he can).

I seem to live at the lovely little kingston pool these days. I am a trainee swimming teacher, so currently have a hoarse voice from encourging little wet people to 'kick kick kick', 'tummy up', 'eyes in' etc etc etc!! It involves lots of laughter and incredulity at the brave and amazing ways kids move in the water (or not!). I really enjoy it, and the staff I'm learning with are funny and easy going. Janu and I have lots of fun in the pool too, but he has fallen gentley in love with his teenage swimming teacher. She is lovely, and he talks about her lots (can we go to her house? can we call her on the phone?!)....

 I seem to have forgotten to take any pictures of the animals, but actually we were at the zoo! These two were my favourite big animals, visiting all the way from 'the mainland' (as the overgrown part of australia is called here in tassie). we were watching tassie devils, hearing about one that leapt on a camera that was waved in front of it. a sim card was later seen in it's droppings! fiesty things.

passwords

janu and his granny made the chalk board from an old peice of board and paint. He is a genius, non? I think it was trees and a forest. and on the window he was writing 'passwords'. They are better than mine.

yoga park

yoga bugs teaching is going well - here is a lovely bunch of kids in the park one afternoon - janu is in the front! he has since given up yoga, though! we were doing a story about a grumpy crocodile in the jungle.
