the celebratory mums after dealing with all my worms and compost! there are no photos of us actually being useful - we were far too filthy for cameras!
ahoy
dad, with this hat on (when he wears it the right way around) he looks just like you! you can also see our garden starting to burst with all sorts of edibles and flowers. the apple tree is buzzing with bees now that she's set flower. in the last week, we had a shed moving party, where our old shed was picked up and shuffled across to the other side of the garden - now it's in the shady spot, and there is more room for veggies in the sun! a great move (photos to come!).

quiltastic
A group of mums have started meeting once a week to help each other with little projects that we all have - but lack the time to finish (or start!). Today we emptied my worm farm, compost bin, and generally lugged smelly, delicious stuff around. (photots to come!) Here we are at Ellen's working on a quilt for her aunt. The star of the show was undoubtably Elmo, wearing a fluro suit that Polly had worn (and her cousins, and more!) had worn before him. He was a '70s Swedish disco king.

hunters moon
the allotment! there was nowhere I'd rather be on this very good friday. and there is nothing like friends to help dig! If our potatoes come good, Doug and Ellen should get big handfuls!
Bella was queen of the compost!
Today we also filled 10 big compost bags halfway with soil, rolled the sides down and planted the extra potatoes in them. when they shoot up, we'll add more soil and roll the bags up. & hopefully when they are done, we can just tip a bag full of potatoes out. that's the theory anyway...

history lesson
king arthur woz ere.
I really should have paid more attention at school. I bet all of you knew that tintagel was one of king arthurs haunts - now I do too!
on this beautiful clear day, we hiked over the hills and cliffs of north cornwall.

we sniffed out a 16th century old post office, and explored that too. imagine all this history on our doorstops -

we walked through a burst pillowcase of magnolia blossom. tried to imagine living in one of the 1000s of opulent rooms on display at this national trust treasure. picniced under giant rhodedendrans that are almost as big as those in the himalayan hills. little man waved his arms, eating magnolia leaves and conducting a silent symphony.

best day
I had the best birthday. In the early morning I stumbled over my present - a coldframe for our lettuces (or us) to hide under. And the day was peppered with nice surprises - cake and coffee at the cider press all by myself (what a treat!), a sunny afternoon with friends, a gorgeous pub dinner in tuckenhay. simple, quiet, perfect. and with a scattering of lovely cards and a few presents snuck in from afar! Thank you! xx I am pretty sure I'm 32 now.
Golden day
Imagine being married for 50 years! (only 45 to go!) Adrian's mum and dad celebrated with their lovely friends at a gorgeous cafe in Torquay. Insisting on no gifts, they were presented instead with a big gold box full of funny 'gold' things, like golden delicious apples, gold label coffee, gold coins...Our little man just ate for 3 hours solid. Now it's hard to remember a time when he wasn't a toast monster, or a porridge machine.
